In 2014 we started with this post series: 12 months, 12 photos, one per month, as a kind of photographic summary of our year. Then came 2015, 2016 and ... Now play the 2017 summary!

Taking a look back allows us, in a way, to relive each trip again, and yes, our 2017 has been another great traveling year 🙂 It also reminds us how lucky we are to be able to live the life we always dream of: traveling when and where we want, working from "home" or from any other place on the planet, discovering new places and enjoying very very much.

In 2017 we stepped on 3 continents: Europe, America (for the first time) and Asia (for 7th year in a row!). But it's all right with spoilers ... we go there with our 12 months, 12 photos:

1. JANUARY: VERA

I started the year in Italy, in my house. I spent Christmas with my family while Rober did the same in Sigüenza. Prior to return to Vera (Almería), where we live when we don't travel, I spent a few days in Padova, the city that joined us there in 2007. Going back to a place that has changed your life is rare: it's almost never as you remember, but it's still one of those places to which I have a special affection. The thing about not returning to the places that made you happy ... does not go with me!

In Vera we returned to the routine, that when you spend some time outside is anything but boring: watching series on the couch, working in your home office, going to the supermarket or cooking, are things as simple as difficult to reconcile with a nomadic life. And it is that as we turn years we enjoy more spending half of our time on travel and the other half to a place that we begin to feel like "home". Being next to the Mediterranean, with free tapas tapas, an enviable climate and a super quiet area… well, it helps a lot 😉

We also took Flow, a motillo abode that comes directly from the past XD. It is somewhat waterfall but it helps us to explore all the corners of our area too.

2. FEBRUARY: COPENHAGEN

For celebrate my birthday we went on a surprise trip (yes, we didn't know the destination until we reached the airport). We finish in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. We, as we said several times, are more of the "south": we love Italy, Greece, Spain and Portugal, but we must say that Copenhagen has something special and it was a pleasure to walk its streets of colorful houses (although what cold! we passed haha).

3. MARCH: GRANADA

In March we left express getaway to one of our favorite cities: Granada. Here, as always, we got lost by him Albaicin and we swelled to tapas, although there was also time for a first time: we had never climbed up to Sacromonte And we just loved it.

Granada was also a meeting place: after seeing each other in India and in Malaysia, we met our friend Eviña (the third one was Spanish, haha) and with Sara and her backpacker daddy 🙂

4. APRIL: VALENCIA AND BARCELONA

As you can see, the first part of the year has been quite reassuring, and that is after a movidito end of 2016 (we spent the last months of the year in Asia), the body asked us for some peace. But peace does not mean stillness and April surprised us by heading to Valencia (uhhh that rice band) and Barcelona, our second home. We said goodbye to Vera, prepared the backpack and went to live the great adventure of the year ...

5. MAY: EAST COAST OF THE USA

For whatever reason, the United States never caught our attention, until one day the cable crossed a bit and we decided venture into a great trip for that land so immense and different. We arrived with a few prejudices and we went in love from a country that looks a lot and very little like what you see in movies (yes, at the same time).

The first part of the trip took us through the East Coast, from Boston to New Orleans, and even at the risk of sin of little originals, we will say that the stop that ground us the most was New York.

6. JUNE: ROUTE 66 + WEST COAST USA

June was the best month of the year: we traveled Route 66 aboard a huge motorhome, we saw Walter White's house as an unexpected gift from Rober's birthday and we even tried his blue goal (caramel, don't think bad haha).

We also had a pipe at Universal Studios and toured the West Coast (flipante) with Ire, one of Rober's sister and her partner, Santi. We made thousands and thousands of kilometers, we were cold and hot, we saw mountains, waterfalls, canyons, deserts and the Pacific Ocean.

It was a trip within the trip ... and yes, it has been one of the best ever.

7. JULY: CUBA

After celebrating Independence Day in Miami with one of my best friends (Nancy, love you so much!), We got on a plane to an island that we always know a lot: Cuba. Here, the truth goes ahead, there was no crush at first sight... is a very peculiar destination, with a story (and a present) that make you rethink many things. But there is something indubitable: Cuba is one of the destinations with more personality from all over the world and that is appreciated.

But we will always remember the trip to Cuba for another reason: this is where our respective parents met. Yes, after 10 years of relationship we finally chose an intermediate destination to see their faces: an island in the middle of the Caribbean, not bad, right? (Some will think that almost caught Mallorca more by hand).

8. AUGUST: SIGÜENZA

It will be that in Cuba the calorazo almost ends with us, it will be that the two months in the United States were very well used, it will be that we are no longer for these trots ... but we arrived in Spain with want to stop still a season.

Well, the desire to be tranquis lasted a few weeks, because at the end of August, after having spent a little time in the town of Rober, Sigüenza, giving pampering to Luca and recharging batteries, and having returned to our little house next to the Mediterranean, We booked a one-way flight. Where? Keep reading…

9. SEPTEMBER: VERA AND CAPE DE GATA

September was a month back to total school, with our future trip already decided, we spent a month writing a lot, working with the blog and enjoying the Andalusian life ... have we already told you how much we like to live in the south?

10. OCTOBER: BARCELONA AND ITALY

In October we assembled the backpack again, we went to visit one of our best friends, Soufian, to Barcelona. After a few days of beers, walking and good talks (and other cool reunions, such as Ester and Jordi) we got on a plane to visit my parents and my land: Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Italy is one of our favorite countries (and not only for pizza, but also), but it's soooo nice and so complete that coming back is always a great idea. We also passed through my grandmother's town (ains that homemade lasagna), we met Little Venezia, we went to tour Lake Como and we had a Neapolitan pizza for dinner with our colleague Luca and a salad of frutti di mare with our former flatmate Matteo.

11. NOVEMBER: SINGAPORE AND MALAYSIA

November marked the continuity of a tradition: for the seventh consecutive year we step on the Asian continent. First stop: Singapore. And from there to Malaysia, again ... but we never get tired of this exotic land (or its food).

We visited Langkawi, where we had a horrible time and Georgetown, the gastronomic capital of Malaysia and full, full, full of street art: a little paradise for us.

12. DECEMBER: THAILAND

And we return to Thailand. We already lost count of the times we visited this country. We toured Bangkok, Sukothai, Chiang Mai and Phuket with Rober's other sister, Patri and with Giaco, her boyfriend. It was great. And I write these lines from a beautiful apartment in Chiang Mai, the city we chose as home for the next months. We were already living a season here last year, between markets, good food and temples, many temples. Chiang Mai is another of our favorite places and from here we wish you ...

Merry Christmas and an even happier new year, full of travel and dreams come true!

Where will 2018 take us? No idea ... or rather, we already have some idea, and it's a country where English is spoken! We will continue to report!
