Chicago, the city of wind, skyscrapers and pizza that looks more like a cake than something else. And how rich it is! In previous episodes (ains, I always wanted to write it) we tell you everything you can see and do in Chicago, today it's time to talk about where to gain a couple of kilos. Yes: we will tell you 10 restaurants to eat in Chicago (good and cheap).

And of course we will unveil you where to eat the best pizzas in Chicago... more would be missing 😉

It is one of the most mythical places in the city, where, according to locals and tourists, they eat the best hot dogs in Chicago. Come on, if you come here, go from all the other things on the menu and ask for a hot dog (prices between $ 3 and $ 5) The original ($ 3) has sausage, mustard, onion, cucumbers, salt and pepper (the typical Chicago puppy does not have ketchup!).

We arrived here after reading that the Billy Goat Tavern is a legendary club in Chicago, with a very interesting story, and I don't know, it will be that we were the only customers but it was a bit weird. The small place shares space with a pub of these that has a thousand televisions with greyhound races and baseball games. I already told you it was weird (then we discovered that there are several locations hehe). Of course, the hamburger we ate was very tasty. The cheesburguer costs about $ 4 and if you want to accompany it with a cold beer you will only have to pay another 4-6 $.

60 E Lake St (there are several locations)

One thing is clear: Illinois is not New Mexico or California, but that does not mean that it is impossible to find good and authentic mexican food. In fact, Antique Taco, always appears in the lists of the best tacos in the United States and the reason is that they are very good! Try the pork carnitas, which carry pork, tamarind sauce, bacon, cheese, onion, avocado and spinach. The ration of 2 costs $ 8.

It is probably the site of most famous breakfasts in the city and many people who start the Route 66 (which leaves right from Chicago) inaugurates that adventure trying its huge tortillas, pancakes or waffels (if you dare with the sweet-savory mix try the chicken waffel, approx $ 12). But Lou Mitchell's lives not only for breakfast, if you want to eat a good meal, its menu is quite extensive (with daily dishes included).

If, like us, you are a great lover of Asian food, you will love this site. It is genuine and with a huge and cheap letter. It specializes in Chinese dishes, but also has nods to other Asian cuisines (there are for example satay, Thai-style fried rice ...). The prices are very good: the meat dishes are around $ 10 ($ 5 if you get a plate of rice with meat), the first (rice, noodles, soups) also the $ 10 and the entrees do not exceed $ 4-7.

We discovered this restaurant in New York (we actually ate there in a street stall) and we liked this place so much middle eastern food that we keep looking for him all over the United States and you're in luck! In Chicago there are several (both restaurants and food trucks). It is best to take the rice dish with meat and sauce, is dead, we promise ($ 8.99). And it is so big, that if you are not too hungry, you can share between 2 (or what you have left, it is valid for dinner).

A proposal for vegetarian friends, vegans and for everyone, that after so much carnaza always well eat something different. Or something similar ... but totally meat-free, such as its famous seitan wings with Thai chili sauce ($ 10), or a fake meat kebab (made from seitan), or a hamburger like Buddha's Karma, They make with a sweet potato burguer, tofu and curry, pineapple, lettuce, onion and chimichurri sauce ($ 12). Come on, the menu is very extensive and you will surely find more of something that will make your mouth water!

And now yes: here are the 3 places to eat the best pizza in Chicago (deep dish style):

It is possibly the best known pizzeria in the city, but don't be fooled: the authentic Chicago pizza was invented in the Pizzeria One. But it doesn't matter: here they do it divinely. Our advice is to come at lunchtime, when there is a today's menu (lunch special) good, nice and cheap, where for $ 8.65 you have a first (obviously order the individual pizza) and a side dish (potatoes, salads or soup). Believe us: the individual pizza seems small but none of us could finish it. The only bad thing is that it is such a busy place that there is almost always a queue (you have to sign up on the waiting list and they call you, we had to wait for half an hour).

There are several locations, we went to 730 N Rush St

We did not get to go on time but it was enough to see a photo to know that the pizza there has a special touch (and we will return, aiiiins if we will return to Chicago!). The special thing about Pequod's pizza is that the dough is super crispy, I guess it will depend on tastes but so, at first glance, I fell in love haha. Tip: from 11am to 3pm they have a promotion fucking… the individual pizza, with drink, only costs $ 4.95. If you do not have time to go at noon, it is also not a bad option for dinner: the individual cheese pizza costs $ 8 (at Giordano's the prices without the half-day offer are around $ 10 for the individual pizza and $ 20 for the small that is worth 2 people).

2207 N. Clybourn Ave

And the third place to eat one of the best pizzas in Chicago (deep dish pizza) is Lou Malnati's. Same problem as Giordano's: you have to go when you're not hungry because as you get hungry, the wait is going to make you eternal! Here is recommended pizza “The Malnati Chicago Classic”Which has extra cheese, tomato sauce and sausages (the individual costs about $ 11).

439 N Wells St (although there are several locations)
