After the passage forced by Kuta, center of the Balinese movement and quite embarrassing spectacle, although with a beautiful sunset, we get some good maps, some information of the points of interest and, of course, the motto of the turn She will be our partner during the following week. On the back of it we set out to tour one of the most famous islands in the world, but it houses very unknown corners, which makes it exciting.

DAY 1. KUTA - NEGARA. 125 KM

Our main objective of this day is to leave behind the congested streets of tourists in the Kuta and Legian area, something that sometimes seems impossible. After a few laps, getting lost in streets that always seem the same (tourists, hotels, supermarkets are repeated ...) finally we have the right road, the one that takes us to our first stop, the temple of Tanah Lot, tower of several rooftops on top of a cliff, beautiful for the surrounding landscape. After the photo shoot, we take the path to the northwest, and begin to understand the natural beauty of this island: on the left we do not leave the coast at any time, on the right in the distance, beautiful mountain formations rise between fogs, and surrounding us with rice paddies of a green that does not seem green but another color. The advantage of going on our motorcycle is that at every moment we stop to enjoy a new temple, or a set of housings, or a group of children playing football in an idyllic place ... As the last stop of this first day we leave the visit to the Rambuti Siwi temple, for which it is essential to wear the best known garment of this island, the sarong. We arrived in Negara and after staying in a rural area, away from the city, we begin to fall black dust from every part of our body, hair and eyebrows, and all our skin is covered with this blackish layer, and that is that the motorcycle It has these things if you go through stubble burning areas ...

DAY 2. NEGARA - LOVINA. 115 KM

The knocks on the door wake us up and some divine messenger leaves us a plate of fried rice and a coffee on the porch of our room, it must be divine because how do you know exactly what this is what we need? Although with the descent from the sky to the earth perhaps he has become confused with the schedule ... 7 in the morning! We follow our route to the northwest and before reaching the last city of Bali on this side, we learn a little history in the monument that rises to the fallen in the battle to expel the Dutch from Bali, after the II G.M. We take a detour to reach the north coast, thus surrounding the mountainous massif that forms the West Bali Natural Park. A row of monkeys await us roaming freely in the Pura Pulaki temple (or Holly Monkey Temple), where the figure of a giant monkey is worshiped. After the somewhat negative experiences with the monkeys we have we decided to leave as soon as possible, that they are very cute yes, but very bastards ... lest they bind us. Just when a welcome sign begins to sparkle at Lovina it reassures us, now it is a matter of choosing the little hotel that we like the most and taking a dip in the waters that the dark volcanic sand of the beach makes mysterious and remote (we are not more than 5 minutes).

DAY 3. LOVINA. 35 KM

For mysterious waters that await us in the hotspring of Air Panas Banjar. This day is dedicated to relaxing in the hot springs of this pool complex and purifying water jets, immersed in the jungle vegetation. After replacing the kilometers we have behind us, Lety takes me to her favorite restaurant from the time she was there, the Bali 9, and we hit a binge of my father, my lord, so in the afternoon we have no choice but to rest our stomachs on the warm sand of the beach and hang out reading at the hotel.

DAY 4. LOVINA - UBUD. 120 KM

After bordering the entire western part of the island along the coast road, it is time to enter the heart of Bali, towards the mountains and lakes. On a narrow road full of curves we are ascending little by little, at times with sunshine at times with fog. The temperature becomes cooler and the landscapes more abrupt. At the highest point of our journey, we begin to see the mountains reflected in the waters of three lakes, and in the last of them we visit the temple of Pula Ulun Danu Bratan. On the way down we turn towards the slopes of the Batukau volcano and the Pura Luhur Batukau temple, passing through the impressive rice terraces of Jatiluwi, by a bumpy road. At the temple we arrive in the middle of a ceremony and we are so lucky that the way back we do it accompanying a truck full of people playing, whose music people from the villages go to receive, and we escort motorcycle! The temperature rises again and the raincoats are over. On the way to Ubud we make one last stop at the Taman Ayun temple, surrounded by a water pit, although we see it only from the outside. Peasants in their small rice fields and children flying kites welcome us to the city of Ubud.
