This trip to Austria by rental car for 11 days led us to tour one of the most beautiful European countries we have ever been to.
The idea of renting a car and being able to travel the country freely, came at the same time as the possibility of traveling to Austria, since we did not conceive this trip if it was not moving by car.
We started the trip flying to Vienna from Barcelona and picking up the car that took us the first day to Krems, where we made a short stop to go later to the Danube Valley and finish in Melk, where we could enjoy its incredible Abbey.
On the second day of the trip we make one of the toughest visits we have made on a trip and it is neither more nor less than Mauthausen, which we visited in the morning before heading to Salzburg, where we will spend the rest of the day and part of the the next morning before returning to en route to Wattens, Hall in Tirol and Insbruck.
On the fourth day of traveling to Austria on our own we enjoy a getaway from Insbruck to the Stubai Valley where we have the possibility to enjoy the snow in the middle of June.
Being almost at the equator of the trip, on the fifth day, we have the most "natural" day of the journey, enjoying places like the Krimml Falls, Lienz, Heilengenblut and the spectacular Grossglokner road.
We finish the day in Obertraun, to go the next day to the most beautiful town in the world on the banks of a lake: Hallstat.
Here we spend the morning and then go to Ischl, St. Wolfgang, St. Gilgen and Graz, where we spend the night.
The seventh day of the trip to Austria by car for free is spent in the city of Graz, where we have a short break from this trip before going to Vienna, where we spend the next 3 days enjoying a city that seems taken from a story of Princesses
